Well after hearing Collection the first time through, I went right back
out the door to get Auto Reload 2. It's five songs, but if you have
Collection... you already have Le Soleil Et La Mer, so it's really only
four.
Auto Reload EP volume 2 : INFSCD 13
1: Phase 4
2: Le Soleil Et La Mer (Black Dog Productions Remix)
3: The BIosphere (Global Communication Remix)
4: Le Soleil Et La Mer (Original Mix)
5: The Biosphere (Original Mix)
Well, the wide spectrum of music found on Collection is evident on Auto
Reload as well. From warm Sunday morning bed-lolling music (Biosphere and
Le Soleil) to rough brain thumper Phase 4 (which I can only describe as
damn creepy!). My favorite tracks turned out to be Phase 4 (the movie
scared me to death when I was a kid) and the remix of Biosphere. I was
looking forward to Black Dog's remix of Soleil, but it really didn't
impress me all that much. A little too plasticy when compared to the
depth of the original version.
I guess one thing I have to credit Reload for is that some their work is
very *musical* (e.g. Biosphere remix) and feels composed rather than just
an endless loop of a neat sample or tone cycle with a beat. Much of the
stuff is pretty dense with levels of sound, but all of it seems to 'fit'
and I find few instances of my brain trying to add notes or something
else to the song. Ever happen to you? You're listening to this great
track but it seems like one note is awkward or missing or something. I
dunno. Maybe brain damage on my part
anyway, definitely get it, if you can find it. I haven't seen it on cd in
SanFran since I bought it a few months ago, but I've seen the vinyl
around. the Biosphere remix and Phase 4 are some of their best work.
Now, the question...what happened to volume 1? gimmmegimmmegimmme
JMAR. slap! I needed that.
